Take-Out Takeover

As hours go by, we think about the numerous tasks we have to conquer. Each day sometimes seeming like more of a struggle than the next. Some may get overwhelmed and some may strive off the fast paced environment. Either way, it’s always something. Work, school, laundry, cleaning, making dinner…a few of these or even ALL of these simultaneously!

With that being said, when those days come or even the weekend when you just want a break, what do we turn to…take-out! Some crave that delicious slice of melted cheese and meat & veggie toppings.

Others may desire chicken wings tossed in various different sauces from buffalo to teriyaki.

Perhaps, the craving is more like mine this week – Chinese! There is so much variety with Chinese food – general tso, crab rangoon, fried rice, lo mein, wonton soup, dumplings – the list goes on and on. However, this time, I didn’t want to grab that menu and pick up the phone. I wanted to make it myself. So last night’s recipe renovation Sesame Chicken with Shrimp Fried Rice.

It was a lot easier than I thought. And I was glad to do it. I knew what went into making it. I knew ALL my ingredients. Less fat, less salt, and definitely no MSG! My husband crept through the kitchen when the food was almost done. At first glance he said, “Did you call this in? Where are the boxes?” Then he tasted it…He turned his head in surprise. “How is it you always get it right the first time!” He exclaimed. “I don’t know,” I said. Honestly, I don’t know. Maybe that’s a testament of how truly passionate I am about making good food and using that food to warm the hearts & comfort the souls of my friends & family!
